The basic requirements to be granted residence are:
- certificates of income of approximately $ 500 (us dollars) per month
- certificate of good conduct. That is, without a criminal record, and
- health certificate, issued by the Ministry of Public Health in Uruguay.
All documents that are processed abroad require a process of legalization. Being required certification by the Uruguayan consulate in the country of origin and the subsequent legalization of the document at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay, on the street Cuareim 1384 (Montevideo).
